About WNY Natural Mommas

Who are we? We are a group of diverse local moms who share an interest in assorted aspects of natural parenting and natural living: breastfeeding, attachment parenting, healthy eating, cloth diapering/ECing, green/natural family living, organics, natural birth, co sleeping, babywearing, select/delayed vaccinations,etc.

It is not a requirement to practice all the things listed, most of us feel strongly about one or two specific issues. Some of our mamas cloth diaper and look to reduce and learn more about green living. Some are homebirthing, toddler-breastfeeding, ECing, AP, non vaxing, organic-eating families...Some of our mamas are simply looking for a breastfeeding-friendly group where they feel at ease & welcome to nurse freely. Wherever you fall in this spectrum, we require respect for others while encouraging an openness to learning from the other members.

What do we do? We schedule events for moms to get together, with their kids (or sometimes without) and meet, get to know each other, form friendships and find local support for their parenting choices and beliefs. (We also have a message board available for chatting & sharing info, ideas and advice...:) )We currently have regular playdates in members homes, and a regular mommy's morning out (nurslings welcome). Members are welcome & encouraged to suggest & help schedule whatever sort of events interest them and work with their family's schedules & needs.

Who should join? Anyone who would like to meet other moms/families who are interested in and practice the above. We have an assortment of SAHM, WAHM and WOH mamas & would welcome anyone who is actively raising a child, nannies and foster moms etc included (members are exclusively women, but for we are open to couples/whole family events as well as just mom n' kids).

What is your part? If you wish to join, please fill out your meetup profile and post a recent photo of yourself with your child/ren in your Meetup profile. Please fill out the info sheet in the FILES section to the left on our homepage & send it to me. This info is for me alone and does not get shared with the other members of the group, no one else sees it. Once I see your photo and have reviewed your info, I will add you as a member of the group. Please plan to attend at least one meetup within a month of joining the group. This gives you a chance to meet us and get a better feel for the group. As a member, go ahead and take advantage of the message board and calender. Please feel free to add your own ideas for meetings, we are a fairly new group and are still getting a taste for what the members want & what works as far as events.

I do ask that you RSVP for each event on the calendar, this lets us know that people are staying informed and connected.

I think that keeping in mind how and why the group started adds to our authenticity and is a good reference.)






Hello all and welcome to this group!


I have only lived in WNY a shorttime and have been searching for something to make this place feel at home since we moved. Although there are great groups out there, I had not found one with many likeminded Moms or one that made me feel at home, so I decided to start my own.

Being a parent has been wonderful and opened up my eyes to so many things I had no idea I would be so passionate about! Since having children I have been so excited about breastfeeding and childbirth that I have considered becoming a lactation consultant or birth educator when the little ones are older. It has also led me to be more active in finding an openminded and flexible place to meet others who may share my excitement about how I choose to raise my children. I hope this group can be all that you need it to be and we are open to suggestions along the way!

As of now, there are no membership dues. I hope as we grow we can ask for a small contribution from the members to help with the group, but that will all depend on how the members feel about it.

I don't want our group to have a rigid and controlling feel to it. I hope to not have many rules or requirements. I do want our group to feel safe for everyone who wants to particpate with it so we do ask that you post a picture of yourself and your child(ren) in your profile. It is nice to know what your fellow members look like. Also, please RSVP to all meetups. Even if you are unable to come to the event, we know that you are interested in the group and are participating. I require only that you all respect one another and treat each other with kindness. Please be openminded and accepting of all your fellow members' views, even if you don't agree or practice them yourself, as long as they are not hurting themselves or others. I want all Mommas to feel welcome here!
